Health Disparities

Health disparities refers to differences in the presence of disease, access to health care, quality of care, and health outcomes specific to different population groups characterized by factors such as race, ethnicity, economic status, citizenship status, age, gender, language skills, health literacy, and insurance coverage. RAND Health research has focused on a range of vulnerable groups, including children with special health care needs, people with mental health or substance abuse problems, immigrants, and individuals and families living in poverty, as well as the uninsured in general, and specific ethnic and racial groups.
