Health Care Workforce
The composition and geographical distribution of the U.S. health care workforce are critical to the efficient functioning of the health care system and the provision of quality health care. RAND research has examined a wide range of health care workforce-related issues, including the effects of managed care, links between working conditions and patient health, provider responses to pay-for-performance incentives, and the challenges of recruiting and training high-quality providers.
